Can I replace an electrical outlet myself safely and correctly?

You can replace a standard outlet yourself, but only if you can safely shut off power and match the wires to the correct terminals. Miswiring can cause hot/neutral reversal or intermittent power. Backstabbed connections are a known failure point. GFCI outlets belong in bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoors, and they must be installed and tested correctly. If an outlet is burnt, sparking, buzzing, or dead, turn off the breaker and call. Our licensed electricians in Central and Baton Rouge handle code-compliant repairs and upgrades, 24/7.
